On July 9th, 1985, The Kopper Keg opened its doors to patrons in and around the Cuba, NY area and beyond. Alice Hurd welcomed individuals and families from the community to her local restaurant that served sweet and tasty homemade desserts along with an extensive menu full of breakfast, lunch, dinner, specials and many other options.
Her love for horses, regular participation in barrel (Keg) team penning and her collection of copper (Kopper) helped her decide on a name for the new local restaurant: The Kopper Keg. It was a catchy name that grabbed the attention of residents, tourists and many others visiting the Cuba area. Over the years, we’ve served patrons from all walks of life, including those from Europe! We provide a warm, cozy and family-friendly environment where you will feel like you’re enjoying a hearty meal at your kitchen table at home.
While at our local diner, be sure to take a look around and take in Alice’s vast collection of copper. Each piece of copper tells a different story, and most pieces were given by patrons who now have a special connection with our restaurant.
